Modjeska Ranch Rescue
Freddie and Fannie are 2 Finches which came to us recently. They have just had baby finches.
We now have 6 finches enjoying the Ranch life
THELMA AND LOUISE
We took in 2 pregnant wild horses. They were brought down from N Cal. in a trailer. FYI there are thousands of wild horses (Mustangs) in the western US and left unattended the numbers can double in size every 4 years so many are taken out of the wild. A Rescue asked us if we would help and we have taken these two. We had to block the road for a little while to get the trailer backed up to the corral as these horses have never had a halter on and are not used to humans. A month ago they were out on the plains. We don’t know how pregnant they are but Mustangs normally give birth between April and June so that the foals have a chance to get stronger before winter comes. We will keep you up to date. We will go through lots of hay and probably some vet bills but so far today they are settling in well. They definitely do not want us near the corral, so if you happen to be passing and see them please. They will warm up in time. We have named them Thelma and Louise.

A little while ago I posted the story of Jovie the Shepherd.
His homeless owner was taken into hospital and Jovie could not stay there, so we took Jovie to Modjeska Ranch Rescue until his owner was released from Hospital. The problem, of course, was that they were living in the car and it was very cold. The owner has MS and other medical problems and was waiting for his disability support to wind its way through the bureaucracy. Well, with your support we put them in a small hotel for a couple of months, after which the owner's brother stepped up (he lives in another state) and paid for the hotel for a while. Well, .that ran out and they were back in the car, as the disability has still not come through, although it does seem to be making progress. Last week we started to help them again and they are back to a small hotel for a few days. If you would like to help, let us know and contribute using our donation link lower down (and put a note "Jovie" on the donation so we know that's where it goes) and we will do what we can for them. We know we cannot save everyone....but maybe we can save SOMEONE and their dog.
This is Newman, he came with a horrible skin issue. He dislike his cone but it’s helping to heal his skin type your paragraph here.
Rocky is a complete jokester. He loves to play and is all cuddles in the evening. He's a great pet for all types of homes and he plays well with others!
A nice picture of Cisco the goat with Bruce the Ram. Bruce was born at Modjeska and was bottle fed with goats milk after being rejected by the mother (a sheep).
No image depicting Jovie at this time.
Messy is a special needs dog, with lots of medical problems, but really friendly and loves to be hugged. He is settling in well and is probably a long-term resident
Messy is doing well. She is on seizure medicine and some joint medicine. She is a happy girl!
